We are intentionally positioned alongside others who root their action in principles that foster the healing, restoration and wellness of our communities. We are rooted to empower those who have been dehumanized. Through independence and interdependence, we can remind our fellow human beings who are and were incarcerated, that they already have all that its needed to be leaders.
We are very passionate about supporting women who are incarcerated. Collateral damage occurs in our criminal justice system. Too many of our sisters have been physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and sexually abused prior to incarceration and continue to experience this trauma while in prison. Far too many discussions take place about these issues. We want to be more than information. We here at I AM SJK did not want to keep talking about what needs to be done, instead we are taking action to be a part of a solution. With sharing, brainstorming and working together as a team, I Am SJK was born.
